Way 1: email the fax address
This works in every version of Outlook, including the phone apps, on a JamFax e-Fax or Corporate Fax line.
- Get a JamFax e-Fax or Corporate Fax line. Sending by email works on those two plans.
- Sign in to JamFax, open Fax lines, choose Settings on your line and turn on email sending.
- In Outlook, choose New mail. Send from the address you sign in to JamFax with; mail from any other address is ignored.
- In the To field, put the destination fax number in digits at fax.jamfax.com. To fax (305) 555-0142, send to 13055550142@fax.jamfax.com.
- Attach the document as PDF or TIFF: up to 5 files, 10 MB each. They are sent as one fax, in the order attached. The email text is not faxed and there is no cover page.
- Send the email. JamFax replies to tell you the fax was sent, or why it wasn't.
Way 2: the JamFax add-in
The add-in puts Send as fax on any email you open, so you can fax its PDF or TIFF attachments without downloading them. It works in Outlook for Windows (classic and new), Outlook for Mac and Outlook on the web. It is not available in the Outlook phone apps.
- In Outlook, open any email and choose Apps (or Get Add-ins on the ribbon), then My add-ins, Add a custom add-in, Add from URL.
- Paste https://app.jamfax.com/addins/outlook/manifest.jamfax.xml and choose Install.
- Open an email with a PDF or TIFF attached and choose Send as fax. The first time, choose Sign in to JamFax, sign in, then Connect this Outlook.
- Tick the attachments to fax, pick your fax line, type the number or pick a fax contact, and add a cover page if you like (PDF only).
- Choose Send fax. The panel shows when it is sending and when it is delivered, and the fax also appears in your JamFax inbox.
A Microsoft 365 administrator can install it for everyone; see Outlook help. The add-in can only see the attachments you tick, and its connection lasts up to 90 days before it asks you to sign in again.
