How to fax Australia

You can fax Australia with JamFax from $0.25 a page. Turn on international faxing in the app, add prepaid credit, then send to a landline in Australia as usual.

Send a fax to Australia in five steps

  1. Get a JamFax account. New here? Get a fax number.
  2. The account owner turns on international faxing in the app under Fax, then International. It is off by default.
  3. On Fax-to-Email, e-Fax or Corporate Fax, add the International add-on ($4.99 a month). Pay as you go does not need it.
  4. Add prepaid credit. Every international page is paid from your credit.
  5. Send as usual and enter the landline number in Australia starting with the country code 61.

Fax number format for Australia

  • From a US fax machine you would dial 011 61 2 xxxx xxxx: 011 to leave the US, 61 for Australia, then the number.
  • In JamFax, enter 61 2 xxxx xxxx: the country code, then the number. When you copy a number written for callers inside Australia, drop the leading 0 of the area code (02 becomes 2).
  • Mobile numbers start with 04. Only landlines can be faxed.

The example is Sydney, area code 02; x marks the local digits.

Australia has several time zones. Sydney uses Australian Eastern Time (UTC+10, or UTC+11 from October to April) and is 14 to 16 hours ahead of US Eastern time, so a fax sent at 5 p.m. in New York arrives the next morning in Sydney. Perth (UTC+8, no daylight saving) is 2 or 3 hours behind Sydney.

What if my fax to Australia fails?
