How to fax Spain

Send a fax to Spain in five steps

  1. Get a JamFax account. New here? Get a fax number.
  2. The account owner turns on international faxing in the app under Fax, then International. It is off by default.
  3. On Fax-to-Email, e-Fax or Corporate Fax, add the International add-on ($4.99 a month). Pay as you go does not need it.
  4. Add prepaid credit. Every international page is paid from your credit.
  5. Send as usual and enter the landline number in Spain starting with the country code 34.

Fax number format for Spain

  • From a US fax machine you would dial 011 34 91x xxx xxx: 011 to leave the US, 34 for Spain, then the number.
  • In JamFax, enter 34 91x xxx xxx: the country code, then the number. When you copy a number written for callers inside Spain, numbers have 9 digits and there is no leading 0 to drop.
  • Landlines start with 9 or 8, and mobile numbers with 6 or 7. Only landlines can be faxed.

The example is Madrid, numbers starting 91; x marks the local digits.

What time is it in Spain when I fax from the US?

Spain uses Central European Time (UTC+1, or UTC+2 from late March to late October). It is usually 6 hours ahead of US Eastern time, so a fax sent at 9 a.m. in New York arrives at 3 p.m. in Madrid. For a few weeks each spring and autumn the gap is 5 hours, because the US and Europe change their clocks on different dates. The Canary Islands are one hour behind mainland Spain.
