JamFax does not currently offer a HIPAA Business Associate Agreement (BAA), and we do not claim HIPAA compliance. If your practice must send or receive protected health information (PHI) by fax, you need a BAA with your fax provider. Do not use JamFax for PHI today. HIPAA and JamFax explains what JamFax does and does not provide. If you have questions, contact support@jamfax.com.
What you can use it for
Many fax-heavy tasks in a medical office do not involve PHI. Examples are supply orders, vendor and pharmacy business paperwork, insurer or payer administrative forms that carry no patient details, and general correspondence. Decide for yourself, with your compliance contact, which documents fit. When in doubt, treat the document as PHI.
What JamFax does for an office
- Your own fax number on every plan. You can keep an existing number by transferring it, with no transfer fee.
- Every received fax arrives as a PDF online and by email to any number of addresses, so front-desk staff do not walk to a machine.
- Send from the browser, or by email on e-Fax and Corporate Fax. Several PDFs combine into one fax.
- A delivery report for every sent fax, and cover pages with saved templates, including a medical/confidential sample.
- You choose how long faxes are kept. See security for how documents are stored and protected.
Which plan fits
- Fax-to-Email, $5.99 a month: receive only, 500 pages a month. Fits an office that only receives.
- e-Fax, $14.99 a month: send and receive, 1,000 pages a month, with a 14-day free trial on monthly e-Fax.
- Corporate Fax, $49.99 a month: three departments, each with its own number, 3,000 pages a month shared. Unlimited users each see their own department's faxes. Extra departments are $6.99 a month.
- Pay as you go: $2.99 a month plus $0.10 a page, for very low volume.
